Peter Rob has 32 years experience teaching file systems, database systems design, database design, database applications development, and more. Peter's real-world experience includes two years as a Director of Operations at an aviation chart company, 20 years as a consultant for hands-on operations systems analysis/development and database systems design, and 15 years experience as a statistical quality control systems analysis and systems/applications developer.

Carlos Coronel is currently the Lab Director for the College of Business Computer Labs at Middle Tennessee State University. He has over 27 years of experience in various fields as a Database Administrator, Network Administrator, Web Manager, and Technology Specialist, and has taught courses in Web development, database design and development, and data communications at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Good but....

This is a good book and gets the points across very well. The content is very good however the cost of the book doesn't seem right. If this book was cheaper i would have given it 4 stars...so if you can get it cheaper used then do that. Its a good book with great content and covers the material well. If you have to buy it..then BUY IT USED

Awesome book -- Great information

This being my first book about databases, I find that it explains the topic at hand very well, and concisely. While database design can be daunting of a task, the book guides the reader through it step by step, explaining exactly why something is like it is. The first chapters discuss the different models that were in use and what is becoming mainstream right now. Very easy to read, but some technological insight is suggested when starting this.

The book is 5th edition. I got it really late. I was originally supposed to get it between Jan. 28 and Feb 12th I got it a couple of days before my first exam. I had to read Ch 1. 2. 3 and 5 What they say a stitch in time.....

Any fans of stand-up comedy will like the idea of this book, one section for each aspect of comedy. But unfortunately it falls into the same trap most comedy books: It's tries to be funny first and interesting second.

There's little substance, just jokes, and very few times I really laughed. Reading this from front to back is ill-advised, put it next to the can and read a few pages while you're dropping the kids off at the pool.

BTW, there's a book-on-tape out on this book where popular comedians read out chapters of the book in front of audiences. It's also kinda Zzzz....: [...]

I don't do book reviews, I don't do surveys, I'm really lazy. But, for this book? For this book, I will take three minutes to write my first ever book review. It will be short. Ready? This is the funniest book I have ever read in my entire life. Sure, it could just be a crazy coincidence that the humor of the authors is the exact humor I like, but I think that anyone will find this book funny. I read the book over the course of a month so as to savor it, and I read 5 pages a night, and I laughed every single night, and 3/4ths of the nights I laughed till I had tears in my eyes. I'm cynical and not humored easily. But this book is incredibly funny.
