Complex, Dark, Dramatic--Arden Aoide could be a sexy reincarnation of Wm. Golding or George Orwell

To Be Wished is the third book in Arden Aoide's Sins of Lethe series. It cannot be read as a stand-alone novel.
Set in the year 2250. Texas has seceded from the US, and it is a country of its own replete with border crossing patrols/limitations. Women are subjugated to any male family member—by blood or marriage. They have no rights; they are chattel. Women are discouraged from learning and reading, and they are forbidden to read the Bible. The Bible is used as a means of controlling everyone’s behavior; everyone outside of Texas’ borders are considered sinners (think Sodom and Gomorrah).
This isn’t a romance. It is futuristic and yet a throwback to the past. It is filled with social commentary. It is provocative. It is corrupt absolute power, control and sadism. It is about surviving tyranny. The series continues to explores hypocrisy and power. James, patriarch of the Agnesson clan, talks a good story about sin, God and the Bible, but he doesn’t walk the walk. He uses his power and social position to push his agenda. Behind closed doors the religious zealot answers only to himself. His treatment of his sons and their wives, his plans for an Arian nation and the means by which he plans to accomplish that are sadistic. His penchant for combining sexual acts and murder are barbaric.
This series is twisted and dark. There are some disturbing scenes. There are some caring and sweet scenes (between the sons and their wives primarily). There are hopeful scenes as some start to question basis of their society and the means by which it is maintained. What I love most is Arden Aoide's intelligent writing. She pushes the envelope of what most would find acceptable in an effort to make her readers think and question power and social mores/norms.
I am completely hooked on this series. I highly recommend it to readers with strong constitutions and inquisitive minds; it is not light, escapist reading.

HOT SUSPENSEFUL READ I COULDN'T PUT DOWN!
The complex characters jump off the page. They are so easy to love and hate that this must read series will surely be one of your favorites of 2015!
The Sins of Lethe series is such an original idea. While the events take place in the future the barbaric ideals of James Agnesson and the world he's trying so hard to create actually thrust you back in time as well.
In To Be Wished, we meet yet another Agnesson. Josiah. Who whole heartily believes all the teaching that his father has spout, until he goes on a mission outside of Texas and realizes that maybe the world isn't as black and white as his father said it was. And while he is devoted to his father (and I'm probably reserving a seat in hell for this next line) but watching him test the murky waters of sin was exciting! Not to mention the fact that I feel his fathers evil tendencies may be boiling to the surface
As this series grows I can't help but have more questions and be consumed by the authors words and enjoy this dark and erotic roller coaster ride! While this installment is a short one, it is chock full of angst, and passion. Each page counts (which is a fresh change from some that tend to consist of too much fluff on the page that I lose interest) Each page is essential to the thrilling ride of sex, sin, and revenge.

To Be Wished is the third instalment in The Sins of Lethe series and I'm completely invested in this storyline. Arden Aoide's writing is simply brilliant, intelligent and challenging. The concept is futuristic, set in Texas 2250 yet the beliefs and moral values are definitely yesteryear. It's not a sweet love story, however, there is sweet tenderness in there. It can be disturbingly sadistic in parts, morally challenging and pushes the boundaries of control and power. James Agneeson manipulates his family in a way that would drive anyone to murder. His twisted dark persona is beautifully psychotic and keeps you intrigued as to how far he can and will go to ruin his sons. However his manipulations are proving to bring his sons together more strongly. Their contracted wives (yes that's right, arranged contracts from birth) who are thrown into this twisted family are in way the saving grace for Jared and Jude. Love blossoms in the most barren land at Agnes Oaks!
There are may characters evolving throughout the series and the storyline is intensely captivating. It is not for the light hearted reader. You have to read this with an open mind and love of dark challenging conceptual thinking. Oh, and there is a bit of religious crusading going on along the way!
If your looking for originality, well crafted writing and strong characters then you will love The Sins of Lethe series.
